Anyone understand why this announcement is being made eight (8) months before it actually takes effect? If I was still 'active' I'd figure, hell, why not forget about attending immediately. Can you imagine the morale as the dubs shuffle off to the remaining 32 book studies in living memory? Could we get a Book Study Annihilation Countdown Calendar made, where you mark off the weeks until the bitter end?

ugh... plaintive letter to return to the KH
by chickpea ingot a letter today from a really nice guy who was in the bs group that met in my home for 10+ yrs.... privy to some of the huge issues my family has faced.... smart enough guy, ubm, at least one grown kid in and married into a huge 2nd/3rd generation family, grandkids yada yada...... he saw, but did not speak to me, at the school performance i alluded to in another post........ http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/156961/1.ashx......... as far as i know we never even made eye contact..... it was a crowded event in an elementary school but i saw him as he and his wife arrived late and scurried for seating.
at any rate.... this is part of a letter that came in the mail today ..... i cannot believe the spin that the r&f are fed and seem to swallow down without the fava beans and nice chianti ( i do not mean to berate his heartfelt and genuinely offered plea.... i just cannot stomach the blind allegiance to the b0rg) .
i have talked to a few of the friends about what can be done to encourage you and your family and decided to simply put a few thoughts in a letter.

If only the PO can read the letter the Society doesn't trust the elders
by truthseeker infrom all the reports here, it seems that only the presiding overseer can read the letter re: book study change - the elders aren't even allowed to know about it until at the earliest, a few minutes before the sunday meeting.. doesn't this demonstrate lack of trust in the boe by the faithful and discreet slave?.
they must know about renegade elders posting here.. the presiding overseer is really just another elder who represents the boe..

i would enjoy hearing yours.. 1. the new merged meeting will eventually be shortened, perhaps to an hour and a half.. 2. more changes about the generation and 1914. they will talk about 1914 less and possibly drop it or change it when people.

Good point - maybe the one less meeting is to allow the 'brothers' to actually do charitable works...visit the sick, support the poor, help the illiterate, etc. - They must be starting to realize that they can no longer trot out the 'Jesus wasn't known for building hospitals' line....Do ya figure they are starting to realize that they actually look worse than 'Babylon the Great' in that department so an image makeover should be a top priority? One can only hope....

Your father is BLOW ME AWAY - I don't have a word for him - He is a ROCK! You are so fortunate....a HUMAN BEING.
This religion is tearing up families like there is no tomorrow and they WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE and he already knows that....there have to be tons of elders like him. I heard from a reliable source that there is a HUGE CONTINGENT of brothers in the US that are of the opinion that the 'leadership' of this outfit is totally out of touch....your Dad must be the tip of the iceberg.....

Blood, Voting, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Grandparents Day, Birthdays, Thanksgiving all a matter of conscience - "let each one resolve in his own mind what he ought to do" - geeze louise, these guys are slow to catch on, but once they do, I think they are gonna go into overdrive to make up for the Katrina like busting of the dams.....which is a coming with a vengeance....
Disfellowshipping will be done away with due to HUMAN RIGHTS LAWS violations and they won't be able to put a spin on it

If your MIL is as batty as she sounds, maybe the brothers won't even bother acting on her 'tip' - they've probably already been there, done that, and gotten themselves in the middle of a family he said/she said scenario....Hopefully they won't even touch this with a 10 foot pole...sounds like your FIL was just giving you guys a 'warning' - maybe it won't go any further....keep us posted....
